A timeless Georgian home, crafted for light, comfort and calm. Before: the site held two tired semi-detached houses - poor insulation, damp issues and a layout that didn’t suit how a modern family actually lives. Worse, the buildings sat tight to the rear boundary, so the “garden” was more of a leftover strip than somewhere you’d choose to spend time. Solution: we cleared the site and rebuilt as a new Georgian-style home, pulled forward to unlock a generous, private rear garden. That simple move transformed the lifestyle potential of the plot, while the elevated position beside the neighbouring golf course meant we could lean hard into views and daylight. The brief was classic and clear: timeless Georgian proportions on the outside, calm modern living on the inside and a strong connection to the patio, garden room and outdoor spaces. Performance wasn’t an afterthought. The home was designed as a low-energy, high-comfort build: highly insulated walls and roof, underfloor heating, mechanical ventilation for consistent fresh air, and solar panels to reduce running costs. Inside, we pushed the “classic meets contemporary” contrast with a floating glass staircase, plus open-plan living anchored by a double-sided fireplace - so it still feels warm and lived-in, not like a show home you’re afraid to touch. After: the clients now have a light-filled family home that works day-to-day, feels elegant without being fussy and finally gives them outdoor space that matches the scale of the house.
