Where modern design meets rural tranquility.
A countryside retreat designed for connection, comfort, and calm.
Once a bare, disconnected plot, this elevated countryside site in Co.Tyrone is being reimagined into a rich, multi-layered outdoor environment that blurs the line between home and landscape. Designed for a professional couple and their two children, it’s a masterclass in how thoughtful design can turn “outside space” into an everyday destination.
Before
The outdoor space around this newly built family home lacked structure, comfort, and purpose. Despite panoramic views, it didn’t invite use - no defined zones for dining, play or relaxation. The family wanted a garden that reflected the quality of their home: one that encouraged gathering, unwinding and connection with nature. They envisioned a space that worked year-round - not just a lawn with furniture, but a genuine extension of their living space.
Solution
We approached the design as an architectural landscape - every line, level and material chosen to complement the home and respond to its views and light. Through detailed site analysis, 3D modelling and a collaborative design process, we created distinct yet connected zones: a recessed fire pit area for evening gatherings, a covered pool for all-weather use, an outdoor dining terrace and a resin-bound courtyard for smooth vehicle flow. Granite cobbles, limestone paving and stone walls anchor the design, softened by wildflower planting, evergreens and semi-mature trees. Every element serves both form and feeling - practical durability balanced with beauty and mood.
After
When complete, the Modern Clachan garden will feel like a living, breathing extension of the home - a place for laughter, calm and connection. The design captures what matters most: family time, wellbeing and a deep sense of belonging to the landscape. From the shimmer of the water feature to the warmth of the fire pit, every detail is crafted to be lived in and loved for decades to come.
It’s not just landscaping; it’s a framework for memories in the making.
